This week at Photos we spoke about Shutter Speed There is a lot to say about the topic but the key point is that "timing is everything." From very fast shutter speeds of 1/2000 sec. to long exposures of 5 sec. or even longer, there is a lot of possibility to allow creativity and a new perspective on reality.
Freezing motion can be very interesting if something is moving very fast or if there is hair or water involved. The details of complex movement are lost in a blur as we watch something move. But when we can capture a split second of, say, a drop of water, the results can be amazing.
On the other hand, sometimes a little blur is good. It shows the person looking at your picture that the object is moving. This can make for very interesting pictures.
The point of speaking about timing is that as God moves and acts in the world, we need to be poised and ready to see what He is doing. This timing is not our own. Like a good photographer, patience and readiness are key. If we are open to God working in the world, and are looking around carefully, we will see reflections of His incredible beauty.

This week we spoke about Aperture, the size of the opening in the camera. Aperture affects both the exposure (how light or dark the picture is) and the depth of field. Aperture is a part of the three elements that make up a proper exposure: ISO, Shutter Speed, and Aperture. They all must be balanced for a good picture. Working with the Aperture to affect the depth of field can produce dramatic results (see the examples).

Many people are wandering around without a point to their lives. Its like in photography, so many people snap pictures at something because it looks neat. Did you ever look at the thing? Did you ever ask yourself, "What is the point of that picture?" We need to ask ourselves what the point of our photography is. We also need to ask what the point of our life is so that we can focus in on the things that really matter, God, faith, family, relationships, beauty, and become a beautiful portrait.

Then we watched Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. We all crammed into the TV room in the basement of the rectory.

God bless you all. Live a beautiful life.

Beauty Video

Last Sunday we filmed for our "Beauty, God's Gift" video. It is still in production. Hopefully we will be able to preview it this Sunday after Adoration.
There are still people in the parish and other youth who need to be a part of our community. We will be glad to have you be a part of our young community.

Youth Group Maturing

Greetings All,
We met Sunday Evening for our most recent time of Adoration at the Cathedral. The scripture reading was from Jeremiah 1:5-8 and Andy Couch led the music. We had confession available and people are becoming more and more relaxed in the presence of the Lord.
It was a great time to come and pray. The music was great. The fellowship was outstanding. And the pizza was delicious.
There are so many other people that need to come and be a part of our ministry. Please take some time to invite someone around you.
Although the time of adoration is directed to the youth - ages 14-30 - all are welcome.
Next week we will be meeting in the undercroft and we will be discussing Beauty. Also I hope to make a short video then with the youth on Beauty.
God bless you all. Please pray for our work with the youth.

Yours,
Fr. Joshua

Adoration

Greetings All,
This Sunday we had a great time of adoration. There were about 25 people who came. It was raining extremely hard. Some even had trouble with their car. We also offered confession.
Andy Couch lead the music with Sara and Meghan Payne. It sounded great.
Thanks to all who came.
We have something great going on here. Lets get the word out.

Yours,
Fr. Joshua

Principles

We had our second class time down in the undercroft. The topic was principles.
We discussed
-the rule of thirds

Getting music ready for adoration

Music is being prepared for adoration at Photos.
We are going to do three songs this weekend.

Sunday 7:00 pm at the Cathedral.

Come hang out with the Blessed Sacrament!

Adoration

Adoration for youth ministry went very well Sunday evening. The reading was from Samuel 3 and was about God calling Samuel. He needed the wisdom of Eli to understand that it was God calling. We need to be wise to help interpret the working of God in the lives of the youth! Fr.JAM
